2024 aluminum rod stock is a high-strength hard aluminum, which can be heat-treated and strengthened. It has medium plasticity in quenching and quenching conditions. Spot welding is good. There is a tendency to form intergranular cracks during gas welding. After quenching and cold hardening, the alloy can be used. The cutting performance is still good, the machinability is low after annealing: the corrosion resistance is not high, and the anodizing treatment and painting method or the surface is coated with aluminum layer to improve the corrosion resistance.
